Lab equipment and salvia extract
Hello my readers, now that I’m in charge of the production of salvia extract I’m gonna tell you a story about a mistake I made while at work.
Our equipment to extract Salvinorin-A is professional grade, we use lab glass usually called “Pyrex”, which is more chemical resistant than regular glass, and it’s also resistant to sudden heat changes, or at least that’s what I thought.
I’m in charge or 2 glass extractors, fairly big, but light enough to carry it with both of my hands. We need to clean them every time after we finish an extraction.
Of course with so many orders, you have to do it fast to get it ready for the next salvia extraction. So the equipment is still warm after I empty the glass container of our extractors. Unfortunately I accidentally hit the container against the table strong enough to create a crack in its base.
I was amazed that it didn’t happened before, because I used to accidentally hit those containers with at least that same strength a lot of times, but this time it cracked.
After thinking thoroughly about what happened, I think that the reason for the fracture was the temperature of the glass, which it was warm at that time.
From now on I’ll let them cool down, doesn’t matter if it takes a little more time.
